When will our students create the poems (are there examples) and where will they be published?
Once the Learning Circle has reached phase 4, research and answers, the facilitators will a space in the summary section where each class can create a personal page per student to add their thoughts, art and or Poems.
In the October-November 2009 Echoes pilot, the Dutch and Canadian students each made a poem.
This is where you will find the overview of all Poems made during the pilot. Dutch students also created video clips with their Flip cams.
See the example of Jacquelien Lenferink beneath.

About the fragment
What is the content of the fragment you have chosen? (do not use more than 100 words)
I chose different fragments from the book and I've put them together. I did that because Bruno (the German boy) isn't really in a part of the war; that's because his father has a very high and important role in the Nazigroup. I did use the parts when they say: 'we are best friends forever and ever, no one can stop our friendship.' They have a very special friendship, they have never played with eachother.
Why did you choose this fragment? (do not use more than 50 words)
The biggest part where the poem is about is about the end, when Bruno and Shmuel are put together with a very big group into a gaschamber, while they both don't know what's going to happen. They both die.
Best friends forever
never split apart.
Until death takes us away.
The poem
The friendship through the fence
Best friends forever
Blocked by the fence
Best friends forever
Stopped by the marching soldiers.
Best friends forever
Blocked by the Fürher
Best friends forever
Stopped by their differences.
Best friends forever
No longer blocked by the fence
Best friends forever
A friendship that no one could ever end.
Even older sisters
Even adults
Even soldiers
Even difference
Even death.
